Fierce Healthcare publishes PGP article on how PE investment helps doctors

An article by Physician Growth Partners’ co-founders Michael Kroin and Ezra Simons was published recently by Fierce Healthcare. Titled “Private equity investment in healthcare is making a positive impact … especially for doctors,” the April 28th article examines the growing investment that private equity has made in U.S. healthcare practices; making the case that “although this activity is reported on and sometimes scrutinized, less often is any focus given to the positive impact that this inflow of capital has had, both for doctors and patients.”

Dr. Matthew Zimm, a Pennsylvania ophthalmologist, concluded a private equity partnership in 2022 with PGP’s assistance. In the article he is quoted as saying the benefits of this transaction for a practice like his are clear. “… trends in the healthcare market suggest that private independent practices are not the future. Doctors faced with the increasing complexity of practice have the choice to join a health system or work with a Managed Services Organization (MSO). My peers have had way better experiences working this way (with an MSO) and so far I am also.”
